“Kirsty Hartsiotis animated the space in her retelling ... She brought considerable feeling to the text.” Peter Alfred Please, Storylines
New for 2011:
The Dancing Stones - and other Wiltshire tales
Lively and entertaining folk tales from one of Britain's most ancient counties vividly told by local storyteller Kirsty Hartsiotis. The stories are taken from her forthcoming new book Wiltshire Folk Tales (The History Press, Feb 2011). Kirsty’s fascination with the tales shines through her telling, and she is very happy to answer questions about Wiltshire’s long tradition of folklore and folktale collecting. No show is the same: Kirsty will tailor each show to fit with the locality and its stories.
Their origins lost in the oral tradition, these stories from Wiltshire reflect the wisdom of the county and its people. From the Giant's Dance to the famous Moonrakers, no stone is left unturned to discover the county's roots. You may discover Merlin's trickery, King Alfred’s bravery, along with dabchicks and the devil, the flying monk of Malmesbury and the ravenous maggot of Little Langford. These tales bring alive the landscape of ancient barrows, stone circles and rolling hills and the personalities that haunt the county from Swindon to Salisbury and beyond.
